چکیده

We overcome one of Bell’s objections to ‘quantum measurement’ by generalizing the definition to include systems outside the laboratory. According to this definition a quantum measurement takes place when the value of a classical variable is influenced significantly by an earlier state of a quantum system. The quantum measurement can then take place in equilibrium systems, provided the classical motion is chaotic. This is illustrated by an ‘Arnold gas’ model. PASC number(s): 03.75. Ta; 42.50. Lc

Quantum mechanics investigation of acid dissociation constant of carboxylic acids in aqueous solution

According to the Bronsted definition, any compound which has a hydrogen atom is an acid, since itmay be lost as a proton. A thermodynamical cycle is proposed to calculate absolute pKa values forBronsted acids in aqueous solution. The equilibrium of dissociation of a Bronsted acid depends onthe interaction of the acid and its conjugate base with solvent molecules. There fore the pKa valuedepends...

Effect of CO2 Concentration in Injecting Gas on Minimum Miscibility Pressure: Compositional Model and Experimental Study

For technical and economic success of miscible gas injection projects, an accurate laboratory measurement of Minimum Miscibility Pressure (MMP) at reservoir conditions is essential. On the other hand, compositional reservoir simulator is a useful tool in gas injection studies and prediction of MMP. The main goal of this paper is to describe a procedure to generate a three phase sequential t...

A quantum-mechanical investigation of functional group effect on 5,5'-disubstituted-1,1'-azobis(tetrazoles)

The present work reports the detailed B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) study of most stable transand cisconfigurations photoisomerization in the core system of computational photochemistry-the 5,5'-disubstituted-1,1'-azobis (tetrazole) molecules. All computations were carried out in gas phase attemperature 293.15 K and pressure 1 atm. Firstly; the potential energy surface (PES) of the groundstate of the mol...

Liquid – gas Coexistence Equilibrium in a Relaxation Model

Abstract We study stability of liquid-gas coexistence equilibrium in a relaxation model for isothermal phase transition in a sealed one-dimensional tube. With matched asymptotic expansion, we derive formally a linear system for first order perturbations. By solving this system analytically, it is shown that small initial perturbations are damped out in general; yet they may maintain at certain ...
